A bit about me…
I completed my training as an illustrator in 2008 (BA Hons), but have been building on my skills and developing my style constantly since being able to hold a pen!
My puppet work comes from a love of stop-motion animation, combined with a passion for character and costume design. My short stories and character design either on paper or in 3D go hand in hand, with one usually inspiring the other. Often, a character will emerge from a simple illustration and go on to have a story of their own.
I enjoy using mixed media, combining pencil and watercolours, modelling and digital imagery to complete an image. Images such as those seen in ‘Puppets at Home’ are created by using a puppet character photographed either in a handmade set or on location with props. Many of the puppets you see are available for sale here at our Etsy Shop. We also accept commissions, some of which can be seen here!
The work for Billy Dylan and his Dragon Band was created with a number of slightly different characters photographed in completely handmade sets, sculpted from the ground up from a number of materials and finished to the finest detail with items such as handmade mushrooms and bunting, miniature fruit and musical instruments, all made to scale of the tiny characters. Dragon characters based on those created for Billy Dylan can be brought here at our Billy Dylan at Etsy shop. We also accept commissions!
